What is CNC Turning?
CNC turning is a precision manufacturing process in which a bar of material is held in a rotating chuck while a cutting tool is fed into it to remove material and achieve the desired shape. A programmable turret, equipped with various tools, moves toward the workpiece to perform operations such as facing, grooving, threading, and contouring. This subtractive method is highly efficient for producing cylindrical, conical, or radially symmetrical parts. When combined with live tooling and milling capabilities, the rotation can be paused to allow for milling of additional features—enabling complete machining in a single setup.
